I know what you are thinking. Everything sounds good, why is Randy acting like President Trump and screaming, "Fake News"? Well, as it turns out once they were able to dissect the part of the colon and lymph nodes my surgeon removed they discovered something shocking.
"Shocking" may be fake news! However, I will admit I was shocked and equally disappointed. When they called with the results the news changed from one mass and no spreading of the cancer to two masses and the cancer had made it to some of the lymph nodes. I was heartbroken, but not defeated. I know God is in control and I knew regardless of the news that I belong to Him through His Grace in Jesus Christ.

What did this news mean? It meant that I would be receiving a call from an Oncologist, which I did. Dr. Stephen Beck of Alabama Oncology. I will admit when I pulled him up online, I almost called the surgeon, Dr. Bullock to ask for a new referral. Dr. Beck's photo looked like he literally just moved the tassel from his graduation cap to his rear-view mirror. Remember when that was cool?

Anyway, trusting God was in control I decided to stay with Dr. Beck. Turns out it was a good decision because the picture was about 20-years old. Shortly after, I ended up meeting with him for the first time. He was extremely nice, knowledgeable and optimistic about my treatment plan. He staged my cancer as stage three, which he said once it hits lymph nodes it is an automatic three. I was thankful it wasn't stage four, which I think means it made it to fatty tissue or to organ(s). Also, out of the twenty-seven lymph nodes, only two had cancer. (Thank you Jesus) That seemed like hopeful news to me.

He said that I would be undergoing twelve treatments over a six month period. Basically two each month. The next step was to have the port put in once the staples were removed from my colon resection surgery.
